Edit a stake or level

If you need to add a stake or level, click the Add stake/level button. On the next screen,

  1. Choose the stake/level name. Click the Retrieving box if it’s a retrieving stake.

  2. Course Name: this can be “Course 1”, “East field”, “Down the hill” or whatever name you use to describe your courses in your test or trial.

  3. Follows stake/level: What stake or level, if any, does this one follow?

  4. When: Your choices are -

    1. Specific day/time

      • Use this option if you are certain the level will begin on a specific day and time. The system will then ask for the specific day (i.e. Saturday) and time (i.e. 10 am).

    2. Not before day/time

      • Use this option if you don't know exactly what time the level will begin, but you know it will not begin before a specific day or time (i.e. Sunday at 9 am).

    3. Estimated day/time

      • Use this option if you estimate that the level will begin on an estimated day or time (i.e. Sunday at 8 am).

    4. Not sure

      • When you're not sure. Levels are then placed in the order you added them. They can be moved around as needed.

  5. Choose the start day.

  6. Type in the start time.

Entry Fees

To calculate the entry fee that should be published everywhere (in your Premium List, at the AKC, and anywhere else you plan to advertise your event), type the amount you want your club to receive per entry in the "Club receives" field. The calculator will show you the PerfDog processing fee and the total amount to be published for that stake or level.

To learn more about PerfDog's processing fees, see our Club Agreement.

Stake Volunteers

Select judges and any other volunteers for this specific stake or level. General event volunteers were selected in a previous screen.

Breed Restrictions

Enforce any breed restrictions for this stake/level.

  • Leave the field blank to allow any breed.

  • Click 'Show breeds' to see the full list of breeds allowed.

Timing

Enter the run time per dog or brace (typically the maximum time allowed) so that the system can correctly calculate event timing and can place dogs on the waiting list when necessary. Accurate timing also helps you plan or edit your running order.

Limits

You can limit the number of entries or the total run time for the stake or level.

Note that the limits set for the day will also apply.

To learn more about putting limits on your event or day, see Event Limits & Timing.

Miscellaneous

  • Choose the number of dogs running together or running at a time.

  • Choose whether dogs are running against a standard or competing against other dogs or both.

  1. Premium entry fee: The entry fee for the stake or level must include the PerfDog processing fee. See our Secretary Page or Club Agreement to determine the processing fee.

  2. Notes: These notes are optional and will appear when folks enter this stake or level. It can be useful for special eligibility requirements. If it’s a horseback trial expecting some walking handlers, here would be a good place to ask folks to include a note to the secretary indicating they’re planning to be a walking handler in the stake. Include “[premium]” in these notes to show a link to your event premium.

  3. Be sure to click the Save stake button.
